Comey expressed concerns over deputy AG Rosenstein, friend says

Ousted FBI Director James Comey had concerns about Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein before his confirmation -- namely, a fear that Rosenstein could be susceptible to Trump’s demands for loyalty Benjamin Wittes, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institute, editor in chief of the Lawfare blog and a friend of Mr. Comey, recalled Comey's concerns in an interview with PBS NewsHour, in which he spoke about what the former FBI director has told him about his relationship with the president. “Rod is a survivor,” Comey told Wittes, referring to the fact that Rosenstein had served both Democratic and Republican administrations. Meaning: “You don’t get to survive that long without making some compromises,” Wittes said.
